Getting a credit card, using it occasionally and paying the balance faithfully is a good way to build credit, but beware: Credit is an easy thing to abuse. For most things, if you can't pay for it in cash, don't put it on a credit card. Good luck.

if im not mistaken, you can build credit with a cellphone which might be better
-
Try it. I got approved at 18

Have you been watching the news recently?! DON'T do it!

It's a great way to build credit as long as you pay the balance each month, and make sure you don't spend more than you have. Remember that it's also a great way to destroy credit.
-
You can build credit without a credit card, but a credit card is good to have, if you don't abuse it. Get a card that you can pay-off each month, without interest and keep the card limit low, so that it's harder to abuse. Good luck.:)

CREDIT CARDS ARE EEEEEVVVIIILLLLL!!!! Don't get into that trap. Seriously.

My first inclination is to say NO. No credit cards. If you wish to build credit, visit your local bank and apply for a small personal loan, say $500. Do not spend the money, but pay the first payment on time and then pay off the balance before the second payment is due. VOILA - you have established credit worthiness, and it didn't cost you high interest rates.
-
Something that my bank advised me of when I was 18 is that you can actually buy a credit card, and it still builds credit
-
a credit card is a good thing. you could charge something you want on it then pay it off over three months. you never want a credit card to exceed half of the usuable credit. it ruins your credit. you could have a job join a credit union. use the credit card to build credit. use your debit card to spend your own money.
-
Don't get a credit card. I have a couple, but I've never used them. If I want something, I will save up for it, or not have it at all.
-
If you have Bank Account try to accept the offer for store Card. That way you can start a credit record. Normally it has no annual fee. You just have to be discipline with your goal of having one. To build a good credit.
-
What I am doing is getting one just to build up my credit. You should initially get a credit card, because if you don't have a credit score, it is worse than having a bad score than none at all. Just keep it for a year, and don't use it a lot, just for things that you can afford easily. Then throw it out because as far as I am concerned that piece of plastic is the highest and most deceivable scam.
-
Yes ,but charge ONLY what you can pay off every month. You will establish good credit and the credit card company will hate you because you are operating on their cash and they are NOT making any interest from you.
-
YES YOU NEED TO BUILE CREDIT IF YOU EVER WANT TO BUY A NEW HOUSE, CAR AND OTHER THINGS. I WOULD RECOMED STARTING AT DEPARTMENT STORE WITH SMALL CREDIT LIMITS. ONLY BUY WHAT YOU CAN PAY FOR.
