The same reason with the N word being offesive when a "white" person says it.
-
same reason why a white person can't call black people "niggas"
-
The base definition of a word doesn't mean as much as who is saying it.
-
The women I know don't like being called that by anyone in anger, whether male or female because it's not meant as a compliment.
-
Well if the man is their significant other it's probably because most women don't like being called names by their spouse. ?? Best guess :)
-
collect like terms man...rule in math rule in life. Men call their friends fags if women do that I bet you get pissed.
-
I think it's similar to how we don't like white people saying the N word. It's like a circle of friends thing. When women do it, it's like their inside joke thing. When a man does it, they probably think of every time a man called them a bitch being mad at them or trying to be cool or a pimp or something and they automatically get mad because they think you are doing that.
-
I would be just as offended if another woman called me a bitch, as I would if a man did.
-
Good question, men should be treated as equals
-
Would you rather be called an asshole by a man or a woman? Think about it.
-
They think the man is saying "women are dogs, and men are superior humans"
-
It doesn't matter if its a man or a woman calling it. What matters if whether it is meant as an insult, a joke or a compliment.
-
Why do black people get angry when white people call them niggers? Unless you can relate to the other person ethically, sexually, or culturally, it is not proper to call them a derogatory word that directly implies their race/sex/religion, etc.
-
I would be offended if anyone called me a bitch. The only time I want to hear that world is if we're talking about purebred dogs.
-
It would offend me no matter who says it.
-
It's not the gender, it's the relationship of the person to me that makes it offensive or not, or the connotation they're assigning to it. My best friend, boyfriend, and brother can all call me a bitch and I laugh; usually it's when I'm purposely being a bitch. Now if they really meant it, I would be able to tell by the way they said it, and I would be offended. But most often it's a matter of "You bitch, that's the last cookie!"Strangers and anyone not close to me are never allowed to call me a bitch, unless they want to see a truly wrathful bitch. But there is usually a camaraderie between the genders that means a woman feels more comfortable using bitch or other gender slurs towards a woman in a friendly way. Like nigga for black people, faggot for homosexuals, bitch is a word women understand, and using it between ourselves emphasizes our common ground. Frequently groups reclaim derogatory words to take their sting away, and give themselves a stronger identity.
-
It's either because the guy said it in an unacceptable way or the woman has issues.
-
Because the power relationship between a woman and a woman is more equal than the power relationship between a woman and a man. It's generally more acceptable for women to call each other that because they're in the same category.
-
What! Last time another woman called me a bitch, I got fuming mad.
