  • I think that it is an important that people can remain anonymous while asking / answering questions if they so choose. Edit: What's more, I think it would be good if you could leave anonymous answers even if you have an established account (perhaps this should be an option when filling out your answers). Edit 2: As we have seen, people are more than capable of trolling without having anonymous accounts.
  • They're there. They aren't entirely anonymous (each has their own id) They make it easier to troll. It's not very original. Those were my thoughts... hahah
  • they should have a name as we are all really anonymous anyway, as most don't use our every day given names as id's. it makes it confusing, as there are to many anon's and some are out to troll and cause trouble. (AND i did say some!!!)
  • They are a bunch of wimps ! Take responsibility for your questions and answers i say.
  • It is not something that bothers me. When I first came on here to look at the site i was anonymous and sometimes there are very private questions that people want to ask without revealing their identity The use of anonymous for trolling can be annoying
  • Good idea - everyone has the right to do so. Annoying at times, because don't really remember them as much compared to the other users.
  • The ability to maintain anonymity is vital, especially on the internet.
  • We would lose many new questions and many who want to continue I think if they were not allowed to have the option of being "Anonymous." It is offered for a reason, and I think the reasoning is sound.
  • How do you even become anonymous? Why would you want it though?
  • It is their displayed wish to be one of the faces in the crowd, anonymous. It lets us learn something about them, their feelings on internet security, and their privacy. Perhaps they are uncreative with nicknames. They could be lazy when they were signing up. Or they could just want to troll.
  • My opinion is that those who choose to have Anonymous usernames have the same right to do so as those who choose other usernames.
  • I think its useful for a beginner. I really appreciated the option right then. However, for those who choose to stay on AB, they should choose nicknames. Because keeping track of ten or more Anonymous, often without any distinguishing icon/avatar is really confusing. Even 'Anonymous too' is a distinguishing nickname, that lets the rest of us know that he/she is the one answering/commenting. If people wish to remain anonymous, they should at least pick a number, so we know if we are having fun with "Anonymous 1" or risking offending "Anonymous 15".
  • Seems pointless since we're already hiding behind user names anyway.
  • please don't use it!
  • I wish that they had serial numbers that were visible WITHOUT having to go the the profile so you could tell the difference between Anonymous, Anonymous, and Anonymous. After all, if Anonymous is behaving and Anonymous isn't, you don't want to get mad at Anonymous because they had nothing to do with it.
  • If a person wants to remain "OUTSIDE" the community, fine. They can remain anonymous and not fully participate. But, neither will I get to know them, respond to their questions more personally, or be as inclined to reward them with points. People with ANONYMOUS accounts simply will not see as much action as an AVATARED, NAMED participant will.
  • To each his own (right), but I don't like the concept and don't feel they're necessary: *You only share as much information as you want in your profile (remaining anonymous under any name) *It's hard to develop an online personality that others can relate to *You risk being confused with other users
  • They're actual members (maybe well-known, maybe not) who don't want ALL of their business to be put out there. Some things are better said under Anonymous, so for that reason I find it okay. I'm sure it's easier to troll that way, too, but it DOES get rather boring seeing so many of them.
  • I think it is up to the individual. although I do feel more comfortable having a name for a person. In the end we are all anonymous really.Just usernames SORRY HAVE ANSWERED THE QUESTION TWICE
  • I can totally understand peoples wishes to stay completely anonymous. After all, this is only a website.
  • I certainly don't mind if someone chooses to remain anonymous. I don't like it when anonymous users abuse the site. Of course, abuse is subjective. Maybe irritating is the appropriate word. Recently there has been a rash of, "what pill is this with........on it?". I answered about 6 of them and then I quit. How many pills can someone have that they need identified? LOL
  • If they answer in a way deserving of secrecy - then great. If they are still bores - then why the hell?
  • I'm so slow that I just noticed the other day that there was more than 2. I wondered why they were changing their avatars so much. I just thought they were really worried about internet security. I say, call yourself whatever you want. I give points by answer anyway, not by name.
