Why is it that people always assume that I downrate them simply because I commented last on the question, and then I have to deal with snooty comments?

I tend to only think someone down rated me if their comment was left at the same time as the down rate. Maybe that is what is happenign to you.

I disagree -- although I can understand the assumption. Although, I wish people who downrated had the courage to comment as to why.

I avoid that by listing the +1 I give to even questions that are getting a lot of DRs, and put that in my answer.

ppl are silly about that...I get "dr'd" about the dumbest things...it doesn't bother me...I dr stuff that is very mean, offensive, rude, or hateful. I don't need to leave a reason for anyone to read. The material being down rated is reason enough.

If you are commenting a downrated answer then it is sometimes a good idea to put the points you gave to the answer at the bottom, like this: +5

They probably base that on your percentage of points given, which in general Answerbag consensus, is rather low. But, whatever, don't let it get to you. Even if it was at 100, Answerbag is a place where you'll always, no matter what, have to deal with things of negative content.
