They would not be generalizations if they were not generally true.. in general ;)

If you take a closer look at a lot of questions here on AB, you will find that that's quite a common practice; perticularly when is about gender and/or race: Why [men] so and so? Or Why [black people] so and so. [Some] people do not bother to use the word "some".
