    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Consider the size of the garage, the type of materials being used, the price of contractors performing service and the cost of any required permits when trying to determine the cost of building a garage.

Double? Well insulated? Windows? on what kind of foundation? Siding? All wood? Type of roof? Heated? Attached? Detached?

They can range for a double, from $15-30,000.+ depending on the variables above.

I just priced out a two car garage with loft, two dormers, side door, and 12/12 pitch roof (no heating are or any extras really), contracting out foundation and DIY everything else. I used plans from Lowes ($75) and their list of all materials with best guess prices and prices from www.lowes.com. I came to a grand total of $19,000 for everything with about $875 in random miscellaneous items we would have to buy that aren't included in the materials list or wood that we cut wrong, etc.

we are looking to build a basic 2 car garage slab,non-insulated. 20x30 extra space for a work area (woodworking area). We are new home buyers and lack knowledge on the best way to have a garage installed, we would need to have someone build for us. We also need a driveway approximately 20feet from street to the front of the garage needs to be asphalt.

on previous answer, you would not need to insulate a garage, a car dosn't need to be kept warm. 16'x8' std. size 2000bricks 2ton sand. bricks can be from £250+ per 1000. 15,000 seems very excessive

You could save a couple of grand if you know how to build it yourself. Basic to a few extras, roughly $17,000 to $30,000. Make sure you get your permits.

A lot of people are stating they would build a 2 car garage on a slab. You can build on a slab if you dig footers and lay block for a foundation of the perimeter. This is a large portion of the cost due to the fact that you have to excavate, pour footers, lay block, then you can prep the interior of the footprint to pour you garage floor/slab. If you plan on electrical you will need permits for that as well. All told it is kind of like building a small house because you have a lot of different subcontractors involved, ie excavator, mason, concrete guys, framers/roofers, siding, garage doors(best done by someone who does it daily for a living), electrician. You don't have to have insulation, however if you plan to work in the garage when it is colder it's not a bad idea. If you plan to connect to the an existing home the garage will need to have fire rated drywall on the inside (in case your vehicle spontaneously combusts per the code).

It cost me about 12k to build an unattached 2-car garage. Uninsulated and unfinished on the inside. I helped with the framing, electrical work, and roofing, as the contractor was a close friend. It probably would have cost a few hundred more if he would have had to have the additional person on the job.

There are a lot of things to consider, first of all the fabric, how big is going to be, what is going to have inside. You even have to consider a rubbish removal company, like Vancouver rubbish removal ,so in the end is actually pretty pricey.

If you're looking for actual numbers, by looking at metal garage buildings costs it cost someone in Arkansas $3000 for a 30x40 metal garage with an electric door. In Arizona a 2 car garage cost someone $15000.Someone in Texas built a garage for about $4000. It ranges, depending on where you are, if you're laying down the foundation yourself or if you're paying someone to do it, and the features and materials you want like electric doors or siding.
