What is the difference between "Dislike" and "Hate"? I do have a habit of hating a lot of things. Does "dislike" sound better?

Funny you say that my husband and my grandmother always tell me never say hate always say dislike because hate is such a strong emotion but for some reason the word hate always comes out of my mouth.

I think the term "dislike" means that something is mildly offensive or unacceptable but when the word "hate" is used, it is generally spoken with force and aggression and hammers home the level that you dislike something.
