Well in my humble opinion, religion and culture are two separate concepts. You may have an opinion on the "punjabi" culture (society, way of life, entertainment and such) but I don't think your facts are accurate on the Sikh religion. Religion is ESPECIALLY not about jatt or anything of that sort. The caste system is denied in Sikhism!! CULTURE may include "fun and masti" but RELIGION promotes peace and equality. You have to draw the line between the two. So to answer your question, no I am not jatt. And I could care less about these silly labels which tradional Indians put on everyone!

o.O Why avoid the subject? I'm interested in what you have to say.
No, SIKHISM is a religion which denies the caste system. It is the PEOPLE which bring it upon themselves, and deny the religion. Do you understand the difference?
by Miss Priceless Princess fancies RUSirius on February 27th, 2009
yep nice 2 meet u .. keep smiling :| .....
by Mr.LiAr . . . . . AwAy on February 27th, 2009
yo wthell...sikhism is a peacefull religion......and im a jatti and proud of it...if you are anything else you can be proud of that too..like no one is telling u that your low or whatever...all men and women are equal...the definition of caste system is categorizing people into divisions so that if they do good in a particular category, they shall climb to the higher category(hinduism)...we dont have that...being a jatti does not mean being in a caste system, it means that i belong to a certain group such as the (farming and strong soldiers group)...the ramgharians are good at dealing with iron(so they are called ramgharians)..the jewelary guys are called suniaras(cuz they are good at desigining gold stuff)....i could go on and on... the bottom line is there is no caste system...those who brag about the caste system have the biggest insecurities in the world....like get a life and be proud of who you are ...stop whinning:)

Sikhism is a religion in which some of the gurus were from hindu homes eg, Guru Har Krishan sahib, Guru Tegh Bahadur, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Its founder came from a high caste hindu background. Whos dad was a business man or farmerish profession. Sikhism is a peaceful religion however, like in all religions you have extremists who try to hide behind religion to fulfill their selfish desires. In sikhism its the khalistanis vs the normal sikhs. Dont worry khalistanis are not a big problem. In christianity you have KKK, hindus have she shiv seniks and the muslims are pretty much all extreme lol (no offense) Like this jattiye just said, men and women are treated as one entity in sikhism unlike islam who force women to wear hijabs and the men dont. In sikhism, both women and men wear dastar's or pagri's/ turbans. However the common misconception is that sikhs are muslims. NO WE ARENT. Jatt sorry is a caste, its the highest caste. Typical surnames, are Gill, Dhillon, Sandhu, Shergill (braap), sanghera, hundal, Brar. Sikhs are the saviours of india, the 9th Guru Saved india From Peril along with his followers who werent sikhs at all, they were FOLLOWERS. You see in sikhism you can be a hindu, a muslim a christian and you can follow the teachings of the Guru Granth Sahib. Sikhs notebally jatts made up a large proportion of Indian Shaheed Freedom Fighters like Bhagat Singh, a sandhu jatt or udham singh another jatt. Other Prominent sikhs are bhai mani singh, he was chopped into peices by muslims for being a sikh, or Banda singh bahadur (ex-sadhu hindu) And Baba Deep Singh ji (sandhu of jatt caste). The Gurus also made other granths such as the Dasam Granth and the Sarbloh Granth, Venerated by the true NIHANG SINGHS of the Bhuddha and taruna Dal. Im proud jatt i dont care what chamars or dumb asses saying there is no caste dont preech your junk to me im priud of what my jatt sikh ancestors have done for humanity and india. You are only CASTELESS if you take Amrit Sanchar. I could go on but i dont want to bore you.

lyricalg12, I didn't mean to offend anybody by mentioning that Sikhism tries to promote equality and eliminate the caste system. Yes we should appreciate what our Sikh ancestors have done for us, but why label them as a Jatt? Of what importance is that to their contributions? Caste system is a system of hierarchy and there's no benefits which come out of it. I was giving my opinion and I for sure am not frowning upon your answer. I deem it rude for you to refer to me as a dumb ass or call my answer junk. These answers are for everyone. And your answer was not boring at the least, I was hooked to the last word. You seem like a knowledgeable person. Thanks for your comment.
