Nobody knows. The first was probably just a crude raft made from logs.

Lost in the mists of history, We know that the Aborigine people reached Australia about 40,000 years ago, and we know that they had to cross open sea to do so, so they must have had something that functioned as a ship. Other groups of humans may have vrossed open water before then, but we don't know about it.

That could not possibly be found out. Humans have traveled water for tens of thousands of years. This is akin to asking who invented the wheel.
