What kb/s should you expect from a 256k internet connection? I know 256k = 32kb/s but what would you actually expect to achieve?

You should check the real connection speed you're getting because some carriers give you a bit over 256k to compensate for connection issues. For example, I have a 1024k connection which should give me a max of 128 KB/s but I get a bit over 130 KB/s when downloading.
