• Of course they do. If the hymen is broken, by any method, the woman is no longer a virgin.

• Actually "ceentrator" and "The_straight_kid", I'd have to disagree. The definition of "virgin" is "one who has not engaged in sexual acts". Therefore, if someone engages in oral SEX/SEXUAL fingering/etc, they're not virgins anymore.
  
  At the same time, if someone has their hymen torn through vigorous sports, a tampon, etc. (all incredibly common, in fact, most girls partially or completely tear their hymens before sex through activity of some sort), they are still a virgin, because they have NOT engaged in sexual activity.
  
  Virginity isn't about a little scrap of flesh, it's about whether one has had sex or not.
  
  Would you call a lesbian who's had a lot of sex with women a virgin, even if her hymen is intact? What about someone who's had a lot of anal sex, but never vaginal? No, that would be retarded.
  
  This is basic logic, people.

• Bull shit - BOTH of you. A female's a virgin until her vagina has been penetrated by a man's penis. Whether her hymen remains intact or is ruptured is immaterial.
  
  I'd hate to think that the multitudes of twelve year olds (and older) who are first to finger themselves are to be considered non-virgins.

• It doesn't require that much force, and it's easy to break a hymen with fingers. As someone else said, you can break it without even knowing when exercising, riding horses/bikes, even with a tampon.
