This is a really stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway. Does anyone else completley despise when someone writes the word "hate" like this: "h8"? Cause that really annoys me...

Yes, I really HATE it when people do that! I have been known to go psycho and lop off heads when people use that in an instant message.

I can see it for 12yr olds who are just being kids. It really gets to me when people over 20 still use that. Is it that hard to type an extra two characters? So as long as they are past that point in their life, yes, I despise them.

i love you all. its that simple. i know it seems like a rediculous thing to be happy about but I was really beggining to wonder about the world and if everyone was so lazy that they find it so unbearable to write a 4 letter word.

I like people to speak and write ENGLISH, as we were taught in school and as most people above age 25 or so understand it 100% without any doubt. The shorthand "net speak" that is written and spoken is foreign to me and I find people who use it with those who they know might not understand it are rude and I personally don't reply to their questions usually.

I dislike abbreviations, in any form, unless its given on a laptop, while driving on the highway. we can do this in law enforcement, in order to save time and keep our eyes on the road. it takes practice. Abbreviations, not on a laptop, can be misconstrued to have a different meaning. it suggests to me a lazy person or a person that is in such a hurry, that only an abbreviation will suffice. Abbreviations are kind of like using all capital letters on answerbag. They both are in bad taste.

Yes, it's fine for text messaging but that is the ONLY place abbreviations like this. It's annoying.

I don't find it so annoying, as long as I understand it. But I don't know this code very well and don't use it myself either. Moreover, we are supposed to use English in questions. This is not standard English.

Yes. Times a million. I was texting my friend a minute ago and I've realised I must be the only person in the world who spells out numbers. I won't say, 'See u at 8' or whatever. It's, 'See you at eight'. And I correct my own grammar. 'God, this is a long text. I love it loads. That was bad grammar'. You get the picture. My am I fun to text. But anyway, yeah. 'h8' is pretty damn awful.

I think it is a habit and a wish to expedite their thoughts, not knowing that all are not familiar with texting. Basically replacing a small cell phone with a big monitor and key board.

I'm having myself a hard time dealing with those sort of things. Half of the time I have no clue what they're talking about. And that's one example of how languages begin to degenerate. I once came across a question in which there wasn't one complete word and all I could say was HUNH? But they think that's cute and/or kool. Sometimes they're talking about a subject or they say something like: "....I went out and bought a "TWP" or a "SNT" or a "BRJ". And what the hell is all of that? They assume that by giving you three letters you automatically know what they're talking about. Cut their words in half and they think they're communicating.
