First of all - It won't be equal. If you flip a coin a million times the chances that it will be 500k to 500k are astronomically slim. It might not even be close. There will be gigantic swings in each direction. Sorry, I'm a statistics dork. Anyway - mine was heads :)

I remember hearing something to the effect that "coins don't have a memory" which is by no means a rebuke to your question :) - just popped into my head... Speaking of which - the coin came up Heads!

I had several coins in my pocket so I just threw them all up and got: head tail head head tail head tail tail head head tail head head tail tail head tail head head. The Law of large numbers says if you keep doing it, the proportion of heads will get closer and closer to a half. But you have to actually do that division: number of heads divided by total number of coins. Because, suppose as I did you flip n coins and find the number of heads. The average number of heads will be n/2 in a sense, but the rms average DIFFERENCE of the number of heads from n/2 will be sqrt(n)/2 And sqrt(n)/2 is still going to get bigger with more coins. So as you do more experiments, the difference from the expected n/2 will get worse, on average.
