I just love the movie You've Got Mail with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. It's about two people that hate each other, but then meet anonymously on the internet and fall in love.

"While You Were Sleeping" with Sandra Bullock.

The hospital bed scene where she tells the family how she fell in love with them gets me every time. EVERY time.

If it can still melt my evil heart after 2 dozen viewings, I'm sure it must crush more than a few of you as well. :)

A recent movie that I very much like (and which I think can be classified as a “chick flick”) is “The Lake House”  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0410297/

If there's anything more suprising and amazing than the story that this movie tells, it is probably that in this movie, we learn that Keanu Reeves really is capable of acting.  We've seen him in countless other films, where he seems to have all the depth and personality of a wooden cigar-store Indian.  Not this time.  By some incomprehensible miracle, he actually is able to deliver a competent performance in this movie.

Sandra Bullock, of course, is lovely and charming in this movie, as she always is.

The story is a fascinating account of two people, separated by a two-year gap.

In my opinion, this movie has only one significant fault.  There is a plot twist that I am quite sure was supposed to be unexpected; but as soon as it was set up near the start of the movie, I knew immediately what the “surprise” twist was going to be at the end.

This movie has a degree of depth to it that most modern movies do not.  I'm sure I've watched it a good half-dozen times or more, now, and every time I watch it, I notice new details, or new bits of meaning that I hadn't noticed in previous viewings.

Love, Actually is absolutely my favourite, but does it count as a chick flick? I also like Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones Diaries, Casablanca, The Philadelphia Story, and Knotting Hill.

Okay, I know it's terribly dirty and just, bad, in a lot of ways, but it's SOOOO funny. I just really like "The Sweatest Thing" with Cameron Diaz.

Also good are Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Ten Things I Hate About You, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting.
