Help answer this question below.
Start by installing the I-tunes program which you need to manage your music. Once loaded, set up your preferences as to where you want your music stored, ex. your hard drive or a separate hard drive. Lastly, go into your Windows Explorer window under the "tools" tab and instruct your computer to always open .mp3, mp4 files using I-tunes. Now you're ready. Then load your cd into the computer, it will detect that it has .mp3 files and open I-tunes. A small window will open asking you if you want I-tunes to automatically load music files into I-tunes. For the time being mark "yes". Later, when you become more proficient, you can tweak this command under the I-tunes program.
Connect your I-pod to your computer and it should be detected by I-tunes. The last thing you need to do in getting your uploaded music to your I-pod is to "synchronize" (you'll find it under the "file" window in I-tunes, select synchronize and it will download your music into your I-pod.
You're now underway to enjoying your new I-pod. Happy listening.
