That all depends on what modern car you are talking about. If, you want someting a 1999 Daewoo, I'd say no! But if you are looking at a newer Toyota, Ford, GM, Honda, then I would say it may not be a bad idea. Just be sure the car you buy has very low mileage and good maintenance records. What else did you have in mind?

Depends. Can you work on cars? Do you have the skill, a place, and the tools to do repair work? Are you going to use this car for pleasure or work, will you have other transportation available if you have a breakdown? Buy what you want, but be sure you don't let your heart overrule you better judgement. Two rules to keep in mind, 1 don't buy something you are going to have to take home and work on. and 2, Plan on paying 5 dollars a gallon before the typical end of a car loan is reached. Some of the V8 mustangs had some pretty thirsty engines.
