No, I already knew. Paine's pamphlet "Common Sense" and "Why We Fight" was distributed to all the troops. Paine also followed Washington and his troops all through the war. He wrote voracious notes, from which we get many of the facts of the war. He was a sort of "uncle" to the troops. Washington tried to keep him from danger, but he kept staying close to the front and close to the troops. He was sort of the "Earnie Pyle" of the Colonial Army.
