No..The virus that causes genital warts lies dormant in the body. The only way a girl would know, was if a guy had an outbreak at the time. The virus can be spread whan there is no outbreak, thats why so many people catch it.It is the Herpes virus ,(similar to the virus Herpes Simplex that causes cold sores on the mouth)once you have it,you will always be a carrier.

Indigoblue is correct that genital warts can be transmitted when there are no visible signs of the disease. It can also be transmitted when the warts are too small to see with the naked eye or when they are present in the urethra or anus. Genital warts are cased by the genital human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV is sometimes fought off by the body's immune system, but many times it is not and it can also cause cervical cancer, so it is best to practice prevention. Here is a link about HPV: http://www.cdc.gov/STD/HPV/STDFact-HPV.htm The Herpes virus causes genital herpes. This is a different disease from genital warts. It is also incurable and can be spread when there are no visible symptoms. Here is a link about genital herpes: http://www.cdc.gov/STD/Herpes/STDFact-Herpes.htm

Not necessarily. There may be no visible signs. But do you think that in the heat of the moment you are going to have time to do a detailed physical inspection?
