If they are already cooked, no there is nothing you can do, next time follow the recipe as they tell you, baking powder make a cookie rise, make sure you are using some.

Shortening and margarine are very nearly the same thing and shouldn't have caused that problem, unless it was spreadable margarine (tub margarine). That has a lot of water in it and won't behave the same way. Otherwise, are you sure you put baking powder or soda in it?

The recipe called for baking soda only. I cooked two batches and the rest is uncooked so I thought if I could add something to it to help the rest I would try it, I also used stick margarine not tub.
