  • That is fine believe what you wish to believe, I won't stop you~~~I guess someday we might all find out if there is or isn't. I happen to come down on the side there is. I am betting my life on it~~~are you willing to do the same? You can read hundreds of questions and answers on here most of which are just repeats of the former. So your question is nothing new and just the same old thing. So come on bet your life on it if you are brave enough!
  • Redneck, you're right - God is santa for adults too gutless to take responsibility for living their own lives. How a grown man could believe this crap always amazed me.Religion is willful stupidity.Get ready for the religious trolls,my friend...Here they come!
  • For 9 years I engaged in searching, doing research using deductive and inductive reasoning, reading, asking many questions, studying various religions, and I finally came to the conclusion that God is indeed what and who He claims to be. I took a step of faith, believed on Jesus Christ and became born-again. That decision was made 35 years ago and I haven't regretted a second of it.
  • i couldnt agree more i believe in evolution
  • Boy, I am getting really tired of people who can't leave other's beliefs alone. What the hell do you care about other's beliefs? I sure couldn't care less about yours. Flagged as a duplicate.
  • For starters, does one ALWAYS need proof of something--in order to "believe in it?" Secondly, what constitutes "proof?" Seeing it? Hearing it? Smelling it? Touching it? Tasting it? Would, the fact that you are CURIOUS about it--be proof enough? No? Ever research the existance of UNICORNS? Why not? Then why question the existance of God? I guess what it comes down to, is: you BELIEVE (based on FAITH)--or you DON'T believe!!!
  • The bible WAS written by man. Well, several people in fact, both male and female. There are even books that aren't included in the bible. But people do believe in God. The funny thing about faith is: If you have it, you don't need to understand it, and if you need to understand it you'll never have it.
  • Well...we know archeologically that at least the gospels were written by four different men at four areas who had no connection to each other and were eyewitnesses to the supposed events. Now...you can say..."well how can we trust these eyewitness reports?" Well...it wasn't just these four transcripts we have. We also have written eye witness reports of the same crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the same person from other people, other writings, all pointing to the same time. Also...we have other personal witness stories of his miracles, his journey, and his life coming not only from these four men who created the gospel, but from every day people's writings that have been found archeologically. If you are still in doubt, then consider how you know that Nero existed. That Julius Caesar existed. Any person in history. It's through historical documentation. And we trust that...More so than with any other literary work of antiquity, we can have enormous confidence in reconstructing what the original texts of the Gospels most likely said. While none of the autographs remains, the sheer volume of manuscripts (from tiny fragments to complete New Testaments)-5,000 in ancient Greek alone-far outstrips what we have for any other Jewish, Greek or Roman literature, where historians often consider themselves fortunate to have manuscripts numbering in double figures! The art and science of textual criticism enables scholars to date, classify, compare and contrast these documents where they differ and determine, with 97 to 99 percent accuracy, what the originals most probably contained. With the oldest known fragment of any of the Gospels, a few verses from John 18 dating to around A.D. 125, we are within one generation of that document's original composition. For most other ancient works, at least several centuries elapse between the originals and the oldest existing copies. None of this makes anything in the Gospels true, but it does mean we know what their writers claimed, something which we are often not at all sure of about other ancient writers.
  • Fear, peer pressure, desire to conform. And of course some people are just idiots who can't think for themselves. Sadly there are too many people waiting to be told what to believe in and too many devious people willing to fill their heads with nonsense.
  • The Bible was written by many people over thousands of years - it's a compilation of history books. Even fairytales and legends have some basis in fact. Santa is based on a real character - Santa Claus or St Nicklaus/Nicholas, a Turkish Bishop circa 325 AD.
  • Faith doesn't require proof. If it did than it would just be called knowledge and not faith. We all life in faith every day. We choose to believe tomorrow will come even though there is no proof and for some it doesn't come. We choose to believe that the people we love won't betray us even though there is no solid proof. We each choose to believe what we want to believe and not believe despite proof or lack of proof to get us from one day to the next. I choose to believe that we are not the product of just a big bang and that is all there is too it. I've seen too many miracles and have actually even had some happen in my life to dismiss it as coincidence and nothing more. I have faith that we have a creater (God) who watches over me and I don't care if anyone else believes. I'm only beholden to my thoughts and beliefs. As to your question about the bible being written by man read the following link. There is a long explanation as to why the bible is believed to be Gods words. http://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-God-Word.html
  • god isn't real. he's just like santa.... only a myth and fairy tail made up from someones board out of the world mind.
  • The Bible was written by man but under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The only part of Scripture that was written by God himself was the Ten Commandments. Exodus 31:18 "When He had finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, He gave Moses the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God." As far as there being any physical and testable evidence of God that would satisfy you, probably not but I can give you Scripture that touches on this subject and that I believe to be true. Romans 1:18-20 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse." Let me also quickly add this in reference to there being proof of God. Many people feel that if God really wanted us to believe in him, he would be out there in the sky waving hello to everyone, parting more seas, and elevating massive objects. The problem with this reasoning is that God is not interested in performing party tricks so we can say, “Wow, that’s really something else!” and go on and live a life unchanged, continuing in our sinful, self-centered ways. God would have a moral obligation to perform more miraculous deeds only if, in performing them, more people would come into a saving, personal relationship with him. But would they? I have no good reason to think they would; the atheist has not provided a reason to think that if God revealed himself more overtly then more people would come to enjoy a saving relationship with him than would otherwise if God did not.
