Probably because of the tragedy of the voyage. The ship hit an iceberg about 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland and was about 2/3's away from Europe. It was supposed to be unsinkable and on its maiden voyage and was it's last.Since it was a ship ahead of it's time technologically it was quite famous.More people had lost their lives than any other cruise ship, and there was not near enough life boats.
