Because they are ignorant. Some people feel better when they call people names or belittle them. Hatred for another race makes people very ugly. Mexican is not demeaning, but beaners is. I am hispanic Mexican and Puerto Rican. I have had caucasion people call me a beaner or a wet back.

Hispanic does not equal Mexican. Hispanic does not equal eating, or liking, beans. White does not equal racism.

It is because they know how insulted a Hispanic person would be to be called Mexicans. This is because Hispanics are racist against and look down on their fellow Mexicans.
