No, I don't think he should pardon him. But I don't think the offence was that bad so I don't think the punishment should be that heavy, for a first offence. He didn't put Bush at serious risk - even if the shoes had hit they would only have given passing discomfort. On the other hand, if this sort of thing was frequent, press conferences would be unworkable, so some punishment is reasonable. Say two weeks jail (which has probably already done half of). (And no beatings up, which he has allegedly received.) Also, he has broken the code by which journalists are allowed into press conferences on trust, so one or two years suspension of his accreditation as a journalist to government offices.

I think its a joke them putting that man in jail for throwing shoes. It was JUST a shoe, and i would have thrown it at Bush too.

i'd send his a$$ to the pen. He assualted the President of the United States

It was in another country and Bush has no rights there. He will probably get a small fine and get let off.How can a mere shoe be classified as a weapon????
-
Bush cannot pardon him since he does not rule the country in which the incident occured. However, if Bush is a supporter of free speech, he should call on the leaders of that country to drop the charges. I doubt this will ever happen. Bush 43 is not known for his fairness and high moral rectitude.

it wasnt in the united states.

I think you make a marvelous point. He really ought to be given your idea so he can make it public. That just might be the highlight of his presidency. It is just the perfect idea!

He threw a shoe at somebody, how much trouble is he in? I thought he'd get a 50 dollar fine or something, or at worst a day of community service. Is he facing worse punishments than this??
