That depends on the OS you have loaded. If its Linux, then yes - so long as the drive can be attached to the Dell (e.g. the drive is SATA and the Dell has a SATA interface). If its Microsoft Windows then you'll have a couple of problems. First, Windows licences often prohibit such transfers. Second, Windows doesn't handle hardware changes well and often simply "blue screens". Still, you won't need to boot off that drive if the Dell already has an OS loaded. If it doesn't, then you can simply boot using Linux Live CD instead e.g. http://www.ubuntu.com http://fedoraproject.org No messing around with drivers or whatnot trying to get Windows to work. Nice :) You can then copy your files off onto a USB hard drive or other such device. You may even find that the Linux Live CD (or live USB) boots on the HP, meaning you won't even have to remove the drive!
