Solipsism is the theory that the self is the only thing that can be known and verified or the theory or view that the self is the only reality. Hence, a solipsist is someone who believes in solipsism.

Typically, when one refers to solipsism it is a reference to the philosophical belief that only the self is real, everything else is an extension of my subconscious or otherwise essentially unreal. Very few people actually believe this nonsense. It is jokingly said "even the most devout solipsist looks both ways before crossing the street" - demonstrating his own practical acceptance of the truth of external reality.
