I live near an area that has several hotels/motels that are rundown or closed. I have a great idea to use these properties for the homeless or for low income housing, but don't know where to start.

You would need to contact a local political leader. They could help and get you in touch with someone in the Housing committee. This might also need to go through the state or federal government offices. This has happened recently in a city near where I live.
