on an everyday basis, eat much more fibre, and drink at least 2 litres of water a day. You can also eat foods with a laxitive effect such as prunes. If you have an immediate problem that needs dealing with, eat LOADS of prunes, or other dried fruit, or get some of the 'ortisan' cubes from your local health food shop. If you find you are still getting constipaion on a regular basis with upped intake of water and fibre then try putting a tsp of flaxseed (linseed) saoked in water over night, on your breakfast cereal. This acts as a mild laxitive.
