I think this all the time. The engineers in Germany seem to be the most competant people i've ever met. I'd like to live among them but my German is still premature.

Most places do value intelligence. I'm a little concerned though the way you phrase this question makes it sound like you have a superiority complex. This is what I read. "I'm so smart that the people around me are too dumb to value my intelligence." Becareful with that.
