Sure, haven't we all? :) Most of the time I've found it's not worth the effort; I could've been doing something more fun. Esp. when the other party on occasion is too shallow to get it, lol! But there are those few occasions when, if it's carefully thought out and the point hits home, it's totally worth it. :)

Not in those exact words but yea. I still wish to do that but I'm in my pathetic mode.

Yes. I went to my holiday party alone. I could have brought two different guys as dates, but neither was going to work out. It ended up being meant to be as neither was actually my significant other, and it is OK to not have a significant other or simply appease societal norms. it was a table of 11. Yes, 11. And my personality drove a lot of the conversation away from awkwardness. My "with date" coworkers looked to me for my positivity and energy, and I am truly proud of the results of the evening. Did I have a good time? No, not particularly. But as a business function and gathering, I did most definitely show them. I didn't cower under the pressure of being anything but myself. And I exuded myself, and felt great when that was warmly welcomed, appreciated, and necessary for the dynamic of the group. I don't believe in retaliation, and I know you don't either. I think that a healthy attitude of competition -- even just having the energy and style to give your personal best -- will show them just how amazing YOU are, regardless of how difficult the scenario is.

I guess I have. I went back to school at age 46 as kind of a lark. But, when I was told no more classes unless you become accepted to the grad college, I applied and graduated in 1991 with a 3.93 GPA. Not bad for a person who was age 51.
