It would depend on the type of scars..are they cut marks, needle tracks, burns? I would probably get to know them before truly deciding what I thought of them. I don't have drug addicts in my life, so that would be an automatic negative...someone who cuts themselves I would feel badly for, but I'm not out to save the world today, so they wouldn't be my best friend. Hope that helps.

One of my closest friends has very deep scars on his hands and legs. I was surprised to see them. He later clarified that they had to remove veins from there to fit inside his chest because of some operation of the heart. At the first sight I thought he had slashed his hands!

If you mean across their wrists I'd think they were sad losers (this will be DRed but I hate people who claim to be suicidal but only self harm slightly). I might change my opinion, but it's unlikely that I'd try to get to know them. If you mean scars right to the tops of their arms as if they'd been swordfighting and blocking with their arms I'd think they were legends

It would depend on the type of scars? The ones I usually see are burns and jagged tears from the elbow almost to the wrist, and I usually assume that... they hurt their arm?
