Help answer this question below.

In all stories there are mythological archetypes.The mentor, the hero, the lancer, the chick, the big guy, the small guy, the smart guy.Can you think of any others and what should modern mythic authors write about?

    The witch - the kind spelled with a B.
    the shameless philosophical villain
    the dame - the all too smart and sharp tongued friend of the heroin
    the ogre/tyrant-holdfast
    the faerie godmother
    the kid (always stowing away to sneak along)
    the fool/oaf (who bungles onto the right solution/path)
    the ditz (female version of the oaf, but exclusively verbal: the Gracey Allen type)
    the guardian/gatekeeper
    the foil
    the snivling scheming snake/sneak/turncoat
    the enemy-who-becomes-the-friend
    the friend-who-becomes-the-enemy
    the loyal retainer
    the mad scientist
    the creature
    the rascal
    the pompous pointless pontificator
    the thug

    Don't forget about the Puer Aternus (sp?). The Jungian archetype of the dude who won't (can't) grow up, the Peter Pan-type. Lotsa those all over, no?!

    i know there's a lot of other archetypes there's one for everyone.
    there's a few series that write about greek mythology but i don't know if it's actually considered mythology.
    Percy Jackson & the Olympians
    and a few books by a lady called Sherrylon Kenyon
