The moment of conception. Is a human being not a human being because it is out of view?
-
My own children, when i found out i was pregnant they where human beings whom i loved immediately.. _ Im also pro choice, we are all different and should be treated as such, we can not treat everyone the same when we are all different. I don't feel that because of my religious beliefs or because i loved my unborn babies gives me the right to be judgmental about other people choices its what is right for the individual. Life is not as simple as black and white it is a wide spectrum of colours!!!

Philosophically, its at the moment of conception. Legally.. it varies between countries. Personally I think its sometime after conception, and at least 6 months before birth.

To me, a fetus is a human being.
-
In my book from day one, but official recommendation depends on the country. It can survive from 22 weeks in intensive care. But can be legally aborted at 6 months....in many countries. Love that logic.
-
When it can survive independently outside the mother's womb - usually at about 7 months
-
That depends upon whom you ask the question of.

upon conception

To me, your question is one only YOU can answer for yourself...after talking long and hard with your own conscience...i.e., values. If you are comfortable with your own answers, I will not argue.

Thats a good question. Or how Aristotle would put it, when does the essence of being a living thing enter the fetus. Let's see, according to Aristotle to be a living thing you need to be able to nourish yourself and to grow/decay. It seems to me that is very early on if not at conception. BUT! That is only living thing. Aristotle also thinks that being a human thing you need other attributes: The power of perception, power to desire, to move, and of the intellect and understanding. And it seems to me that fetus's dont get these things until much later. This leads to an interesting thought. It seems that at conception they are living things, but not human. And they are on a continuum, moving from mere living thing (cells), to animal (cells + organs), to human being.
