  • Track for Ivy League Colleges, any advice please? Right now i am a freshman in High school. My GPA consists of a 3.7(weighted) and i'm trying very hard to get them higher. I've thought about my career choices, and i have decided on getting an MD and possibly becoming psychiatrist because of my love of my psychology classes (100% in class). Currently i am in all honors and seminar ( like AP, for freshmen and sophomores) english, sociology, and psychology. This year i am so far, not currently involved in any activities, but i'll see if i can join the newspaper, and track (possibly), and do a few publications for our school book. Next year i plan on taking all seminar english, science, history, math (possibly not), and AP psychology. Along with those ill try out for academic team, cross country (possibly), newspaper, and publish somethings hopefully. I have always been an excellent standardized test taker so hopefully that will come in handy. I was wondering things to do over the summer, i was thinking possibility taking extra classes, and was wondering other programs that might be generally academically helpful?(other than volunteering) As for volunteering would it be beneficial to do it say at a hospital? As for clubs and extra curricular activities would the ones i listed be enough, i ask this because i feel i've missed the boat on a lot of things this year. Sorry for the drawn-out answer, and the possible grammertical errors in a hurry. I am also planning on joining the Spanish NHS, and regular NHS, but they are not offered untill offered Junior year. I have been looking at Pennsylvania Governor’s School for Health care, and was wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to get into this? You stay for 5 weeks at a college and take courses. However, I don't feel confident in making it since I cannot even get into the gifted program at my school, but I might give it a shot. If i do i'll apply for these in my Junior year Any experiences with Govener schools?
