I think if you wear them constantly, yes it can be harmful because your weight isnt being distributed in a natural way. Make sure your high heels fit well and are comfortable- you can buy gel pads to stick inside which will cushion your feet. Try to wear flat shoes or no shoes as much as possible.

As already said, it is harmful if the shoes do not fit well or are too high. I always wear heels and I run around all day in them (I rarely get to just sit at my desk). . .having said that, I typically wear 2 1/2 to 3" heels (ohhhhhhhhh the agony, but they look so good). Harmful is a subjective term. . .sure, if you're really clumsy and trying to manage 3" heels it could be very harmful if you trip and fall or twist your ankle whilst stimbling. Harmful long term if the shoes are too tight. My grandmother wore the most fashionable shoes available in the 40s and she ended up pigeon toed and crippled by it. The best rule of thumb is to wear shoes that allow you to walk somewhat naturally. If a praticular pair of heels causes you to have lower calf strain while walking. . .they are too high and you could end up with some very pulled leg muscles. If the heels cause you to walk in a stiff manner, you could be doing damage to your back and knees. Use your best judgment when choosing high heeled shoes. I try to wear them every other day instead of every day to minimize the damage. Hope this helps.

It's always going to be bad to wear them constantly, but for some people they can be more harmful than others. If you have any form of back or knee problem, they can definetely aggravate it. You also have to bear in mind that its far easy to trip or twist an ankle in heels, particularly stilettoes, and if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of being followed in a deserted alley, you've severely restricted your chances of running away (apparently escort agencies recommend their girls always wear a heel below 2 inches and with a secure ankle strap for this reason!). Funnily enough, some back specialists suggest that wearing flat heels constantly is as bad as wearing high ones- the best advice is to vary your heel heights over the course of your week. Evenly balanced, fairly straight heels or wedges that support the foot tend to be better than skinny stilletoes for walking comfortably in.

Wearing high heeled shoes helps prevent spider and varicose veins. They also tone the leg muscles keeping the sleek and sexy. Not to mention that wearing high heeled shoes helps improve posture.

It is harmful to wear heels constantly. Your calves aren't meant to be flexed like that for a long time and it creates an unatural balance for your body. People who do wear the quite a bit will have to do surgery or wear have to wear orthepedic shoes.I read this in a book called In Your Face, you should check it out, it's very good.

There are a lot of shoe fetish people that insist that their woman wear very high or spiky heels to bed for sexual turn on during lovemaking. You would need to be careful that you don't poke a lover in the eye with a "stilleto" type of heel while changing positions or getting excited. A trip to the emergency room would spoil the fun.

Probably. I don't care. I'll deal with whatever problems come up as they happen. For now, I enjoy them as often as I can.
