You cannot buy them from the US Postal Service anymore. A rash of accidents concerning former Jeep DJ-5 mail jeeps led the USPS to ban all sales to private hands. The few that remain are sold only to those people who want one for delivering rural route mail. Unwanted jeeps are scrapped and the frames cut in half. If you want one, you have to buy it from someone quitting a rural route or from a prior owner.

There's one at the Colorado Rennaisance Festival. I worked there for a few summers, and they use one to run deliveries from the warehouse to the kitchens. The key is always in the ignition, and they'll hire just about anybody. Just sayin...
