The result of such an act could result in a civil lawsuit against the co-worker (defamation)and a "hostile work environment" charge, as well as a wrongful termination suit, against the employer. If you have been terminated and have not had a "hearing" by the boss where you could defend yourself with evidence and the ability to "face your accuser", then I would suggest that you write a Certified Letter (return receipt requested) to your boss, outlining your position and requesting a re-consideration of his/her decision to terminate. In addition, s/he should be aware that in the absence of such reconsideration, there are legal avenues available to you. (Dept. of Labor and/or the Human Rights Commission of your State, as well as the State/ Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission [EEOC])
