I sure hope not, but that is the road we are going down right now - and it scares the hell out of me. Pretty soon the idea of paper money will be a distant memory, everything being digital dollars, paid with a chip embedded in your arm. I hope I'm long dead by then.

I am very sorry to say, but that is already in the works. North America (Canada, USA, and Mexico) will soon be receiving the Amerodollar. From what I have heard it is already printed. I believe the current world wide recession is the precursor to bring in the Amerodollar in the USA. This fiat currency will be worth less world wide than the current fiat Federal Reserve currency. I think we've just found out what happens when an integrated worldwide economic system takes a hit -- they all fall down without a strong, independent economy out there that can loan money for refinancing. One world currency would be convenient on many levels, but as you can see, there are problems. Right now the only economies that do not belong to the central banking system are in those countries that are either extremely poor, or are extremely wealthy Arab states, including some in the "Axis of Evil." Fancy that.

Disagree. Until the earth has one language, worldwide, one-for-all currency will create a further complicated world. And, did i mention counterfeiting? Its bad now. one worldwide currency will further encourage worldwide counterfeiting. anyone have a Swiss bank account?? Think about this.
