  • No it isn't. And how does society promote rape?
  • I am not a man but I have been close to enough men to know that is absolutely not true. If you think that is true you need to find some better men to hang around. Even if a guy entertains a "fantasy" of rape that is very different than actually wanting to rape someone in reality. I don't agree that society promotes rape.
  • I would like to hear from men.
  • I'm pretty sure wanting to "rape" is just a natural urge that has to be suppressed in a civilized society.
  • Blondie, please stop trying to pretend you are interested in men sexually. We all know by now you prefer women. And are ashamed of it.
  • That would depend on how loosely you interpret the idea of something being "In" a person. I'm sure any normal human being, if pushed to the right extreme, has it "In Them" to do the most horrible things. Why, just look at the Holocaust - do you think all the Germans who rallied behind Hitler were inherently bad people? No, they were just your typical good, gentle people, pushed to violent extremes by fear. But the capacity to do bad things isn't anything to be ashamed of, it is in fact the necessary inverse of any capacity to do good things. As for why society "Promotes" rape... Simple, taboos are appealing. People naturally want to discover anything they've been told is off-limits. Therefor, touching on subjects deemed repulsive and unacceptable by mainstream society can bring in just the boost in attention needed to make money effectively in modern society, and is often undertaken out of simple interest in the subject itself. I for one don't consider it a totally negative thing. Few things are more unhealthy than to take all your "Bad Thoughts" and repress or ignore them. It's not exactly healthy to fully indulge them, either, but a society that violently ignored the concept of rape would be no better than a society that talked about it freely or even "Promoted" it. As a disclaimer here, though, I don't feel that most of mainstream society actively promotes rape. Depictions of and discussion about rape have gotten much more common over time, but when you get right down to talking about rape realistically, I've yet to see more than a VERY small minority advocate in favour of it. The fact of the matter is, we as human beings have a basic need to explore our thoughts and desires in order to be well-adjusted and mentally healthy - of course, it's important here to recognize the difference between exploring a thought or desire and then letting it go, and actually indulging a thought or desire by going out and literally doing it.
  • I don't know what media you are consuming, but I can't remember seeing any socially acceptable media that promotes the idea that rape is normal or desirable. I am sure that there are probably some pornographic sources that probably promote this, but not the main stream media. From my experience, most people hold rapists in contempt. Oh, and by the way, I am a man and I have absolutely no desire to rape anyone.
  • Thanks to all the men who posted such Great answers. And to certain women who posted-You proved that women are meaner than men!
  • The society that I live in doesn't promote rape and hurt..I find those repulsive as do most other people...If someone doesn't want me sexually that is the biggest turn off I can ever get. But rape has nothing at all to do with sex...It is a power based anger management problem.
  • Maybe you live in Japan! No offense but rape porn is like a culture there. do some research & you'll find out. Aside from that; have you not heard of women raping men? women raping women? watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bobwT0PH3GU saying that only men rape & all men rape is pure propaganda.
  • No, no and it doesn't - quite the reverse, in fact.
  • Alright I'll ask my boyfriend, or maybe I should have asked him and my brother when they hugged me when I was in the hospital after a WOMEN held me down so her husband could rape me. You really need to think about what you say BEFORE you say it. Rape is not and never has been promoted in media, sexual appeal has. Which actually is quite different from rape. Get your facts straight before you run your mouth and accuse all men of being rapists. Thats just like saying that all women are gold-digging sluts.
