I think I might have gotten Pnemonia, I've been sick for a couple weeks now and its not gotten any better. How is Pnemonia usually treated and is there any good way I can tell if what I have is Pnemonia or just a really bad cold?

Go to the doctor to be sure either way. If you don't have medical insurance, most cities have free clinics or clinics that take walk-ins at a small cost.

    * Bacteria. come on suddenly, include shaking chills, a high fever, sweating, shortness of breath, chest pain, and a cough that produces thick, greenish or yellow phlegm. Is often confined to just one area of the lung. (lobar pneumonia)

    * Viruses. tends to begin with flu-like signs and symptoms. usually starts with a dry (nonproductive) cough, headache, fever, muscle pain and fatigue. As the disease progresses, you may become breathless and develop a cough that produces just small quantities of phlegm that may be clear or white. When you have viral pneumonia, you run the risk of also developing a secondary bacterial pneumonia.

Pneumonia can be life threatening so if you think you have it go to the doctor!

With Pneumonia, you will have severe pain in your chest while coughing. You must see a doctor and may need some strong antibiotics.

I had Pneumonia last year and docs wanted to hospitalize me which I refused. I took the course of antbiotics and took complete rest in steamed room for three days (I kept a small heating plate and boiled water on the pan, closed the doors and humidified the room with fresh hot steam). I coughed out all the sputum in three days and then antibiotic could work faster and I was up in less than five days time. If you can add some eucalyptus and mint oil in the water, and steam, the better. Drink lots of liquid and eat a small portion of healthy diet.

Hope you will be better soon. Take care.

They need to do a chest X-ray in order to tell if it Pneumonia, and I think its usually treated with antibiotics, what are your symptoms? You could also have a number of other things like Bronchitis, and so on......Go on www.WebMd.com I usually find that site helpful, and for your own sake see a doctor, you never know how bad the infection can be!
