What do you feel would be a just sentence to give a 50 year old man that tortured and killed at least 19 cats/kittens with his hands?

I'd say that person should pay a fine of $50,000 which would be split evenly among the area's animal shelters. That person should also be made to work (community service) at the various shelters, supervised, cleaning cages, for at least 15 years.

That's awful and disturbing, but I wouldn't put him in jail for even one day. He needs psychiatric help, he doesn't need to sit in a cell. A fine, community service, and mandatory therapy.

he got 5 years.. i doubt he serves 6 months before they let this nut loose again.... this is how most serial killers of people get started...

thats horrid!!! i shudder to think what happens when he gets out of prison after 5 years. he is a deranged individual. without psychiatric treatment, he will probably continue on with this disturbing behavior. and he might get worse ~ turning his rage onto humans. long-term psychiatric treatment in an institution would be a good start. i think a large fine for the benefit of the state and the aspca is also a good idea. and after his release i would recommend anger management therapy, mandatory support groups and community service at local animal shelters.

If any jail sentence was handed down it should be very short. Community service is good... maybe working with an animal shelter (under supervision). Seeing a shrink, mandatory and probation where any other crimes would be punished strongly. I apreciate that animals should be treated with respect but millions of cows, chickens and pigs are slaughtered daily.

OMG, this guy is a monster. :( A "just sentence" doesn't exist. IDK, maybe some pharmaceutical or cosmetic company can use him as a guinea pig to test new drugs. Would anyone be so gullible as to believe this man can be rehabilitated? :(

These type of people are our future killers of adults and children. They are our future child abusers and elderly abusers and wife beaters. Jail sentence won't stop him. I think we should do to him what he did to them. Hold him down and torture him till he dies. I know most people think pets do NOT deserve the same kind of treatment, love or honor that humans do but that is BS. Sometimes they deserve more because they are much more loyal than humans. I think he needs LONG TERM committment in a psychiatric facility until he dies
