Why do sarcastic comments usually get more positve ratings than serious ones?

    Personally I do not find this to be the case. I have a very tongue in cheek humour not intentionally sarcastic ( Usually) but I have been downrated on many occassions because of a tongue in cheek reply to what i had considered a lighthearted question

    Because they hit a nerve that has some truth in it. That make us a little nervous and a common response is to laugh. Laughter is seen as good so the points rack up.

    Because some sarcastic comments can be funny, atleast to me, as long as they aren't offensive and they make sense.

    Because there are a lot of Fox News types out there, and a lot of folks who are so down on the world and on life that they have gone sociopathic on humanity. They like their Dr. Demento and their shock jocks, taking pleasure in other people's pain and misfortune. They attack anything, just to watch it bleed. Though, some of the comments posted are really just direct responses, no punches pulled, real world brought home to us all. Not all of life is pretty. I saw an 8 yr old boy die in a Mexican hospital one day (Spring Break, 2010). Later that afternoon, I saw a 14 yr old boy die, and the next night, a 5 yr old girl, and tell me to keep my comments mild. Don't get me started. I wasn't being sarcastic, just real, and maybe a little indignant.
