Never tried it, but I have found some relief by making a big batch of tea and letting it cool. Then use it to make cool compresses and apply on the toasted areas.

Don't know - can't imagine it would. Sunburn is actually a burn so the best thing is to do the same sort of thing that a hospital would do if you had been burnt. Keep as much moisture in the skin as possible by using lots and lots of cream.

When we were little we took cool bathes with a little vinegar in it and sheet's were put into plastic bags and into the freezer - It alway's worked pretty good

Not for me. I use Noxema Medicated Skin Cream. It is messy and makes you stink, but it instantly relieves the pain.

Yes, I received a sever burn on the shoulders after playing volleyball all day under overcast skies. That evening the pain was like thick needles stuck in my flesh and nothing in the apartment would relieve the pain but the shower. Here is the rub, the pain resumes as soon as you step out of the shower. My girlfriend recognized the problem, called her doctor who called a pharmacy with an anesthetic ointment prescription which my girlfriend picked up while I waited in the shower.

a wet teatowl and a bag of frozen vedge in a towl, thats my current remedy as i type XD
