  • Since you don't wear it currently and don't want to look overdone I'd suggest wearing colors that match your natural skin tones...Look closely at the color of your eyelids and cheeks and try to match that...just do enough to make a bit of a difference then eventually you can start wearing more and it will be noticeable but not so bad that you have to wear it to look right. Just be careful not to overdo it :) Pinks are a good color. Since I have brown hair and brown eyes I wear alot of tans and browns...i like the natural look and don't overdo it...have fun with it!
  • I vote for just mascara to begin with and perhaps one of those compacts that combines powder and foundation to cover slight imperfections in our skin (like Aveda has . . . it's my favorite). Eye shadow makes such a drastic statement if applied incorrectly or the wrong color. I'm sure you'll look fabulous!!!
  • You definitly do not want to over do your make up. If you have light skin go for a lighter clor eyeshadow. Same with darkerskin. It is also cute to match your eyeshadow to your eyes or clothes. Its only makeup. You can just have fun with it. I like to stick to natural colors for everyday make up but for fun things and parties i brighten it up a little. Just have fun.
  • Why don't you just take a weekend and play with it. Either by yourself, or invite some girlfriends to come over & bring their makeup. Paint up, wash off, do it all again. You'll learn what you like and don't like. When all is said & done, you can wash it all off. Find what's comfortable for you. Hey, maybe even your Mom could be a sounding board, or at least a source of makeup? (or maybe not). I just have to say, NOT wearing makeup is kinda nice, too. :)
  • definately try just mascara first, then try out neutral eyeshadows. eventually you'll start playing around more and finding out what really suits you. but i will stress to you not to start wearing foundation if youve never needed it before because it does alter your skin. my friend recently started wearing foundation, even though she didnt need it, and now her skin is quite oily with a few break outs and finds she actually needs to wear it now, so just be careful.
