  • When you're jogging, your body goes through a "warm up" cycle, in which all the systems get conditioned to optimize the flow of oxygen and blood, etc. Jogging is less strenuous than running up the stairs, and once your body gets warmed up the pace is sustainable without strain. When you run up the stairs, you're not warmed up and this is stressful -- everything has to suddenly respond and supply extra oxygen and blood without the warmup cycle. If you jog FIRST, you should find that running up the stairs is no problem.
  • there is also a trainihg factor. i bet when you started running it felt just as hellish. few of us train to climb stairs all the time so its a little bit harder for sure. plus chances are you arent just climbing stairs, you are likely to be carrying something, or in a rush or whatever but you arent thinking about he activity and proper mechanics or breathing.
  • Jogging uphill is harder and more strenuous than jogging on flat ground.
