  • Assume the discussion of a scenario / a story with a purpose. The particulars are all the facts that set up the scenario / the story. Another word for particulars is "givens" or "facts". When contrasting one scenario with another, especially when they are hypothetical, we might change ONE particular to show how the outcome or outcomes of the scenarios will differ. If the discussion talks about outcomes first, then we might say we obtained a changed outcome via a changed particular; we may get success rather than failure due to a changed particular, that being "the education of the active person" or something similar.
