The proposed coalition government put forth by the Liberal and NDP, with support of the Bloc, is absolutely in no way undemocratic or illegal. It is how our parliamentary system works. Stephen Harper won the last election, but with only a minority government. The onus was on him to work with the other parties to move ahead. That is how minority governments work. If you want to survive, you must compromise. However, Harper miscalculated and underestimated the strength of the opposition when he tabled a politically divisive mini-budget and is now on the brink of defeat. Harper has shown he is incapable of working with the other parties and has lost the confidence of the House of Commons. The other three political parties have indicated that they are ready to assume power by working as a coalition. They hold a majority of the seats in Parliament, and have a credible chance of maintaining order. Just to stress again, there is nothing dirty or underhanded going on here; it is parliamentary politics at play. Obviously we are in unprecedented territory now, and we must wait and see what the Governor General decides.

The prime minister does not have enough majority of seats in the government, thus the other parties (NDP,Liberals) unite to combine with more seats in a house of commons and have a non confidence vote to elect a new prime minister of another party. To hold a majority party it must have over 50% of the national vote, which it was short of .It is not mutiny just fair government for the minority cannot rule the majority.
