IGNITION KEY WON'T TURN just goes in and out 08 chey HHR the 800 service people no help just said jiggle keys and keep turning the steering wheel to get the key to turn... any answers out there?

Please do NOT repeat questions. I am not a car person but I had a car that did that and I had to get the ignition switch (place where you put the key) taken out and a new one put in.. The 800 #'s are a waste of time. They are reading out a book and are completely stupid.

You shouldn't have to jiggle the keys to get the car started. The steering wheel locks when you shut off the car and take out the keys, so sometimes you have to turn the wheel. But you can't turn the wheel without the key in the "on" position. The ignition switch should be replaced. I hope the car is under warranty.
