  • Yes, but it doesn't mean that Mac OS X is suddenly as insecure and virus ridden as Microsoft Windows. A few viruses / trojans have been written for Mac OS X, but most have been demonstration versions only and few have had any significant impact on any users.

  • That Apple is virus free or much more virus free than Windows is a myth. It used to be the case but hasn't been for some time.
  • Not surprizing at all. It was a myth that Apple was invulnerable to virus' anyway. The ONLY reason Apple didn't have as much of a problem with virus' as Microsoft is because Apple computers/OS are not nearly so prevalent as PC's with Microsoft OS. Had the situation been reversed, with Microsoft occupying a tiny fraction of the PC market and Apple the majority, then it would have been far more profitable for people to tailor virus' to MAC operating systems.
  • They have always said the one should have virus protection. It's always a good idea. I've always had it on my mac.
