They have always said the one should have virus protection. It's always a good idea. I've always had it on my mac.

Not surprizing at all.

It was a myth that Apple was invulnerable to virus' anyway. The ONLY reason Apple didn't have as much of a problem with virus' as Microsoft is because Apple computers/OS are not nearly so prevalent as PC's with Microsoft OS.

Had the situation been reversed, with Microsoft occupying a tiny fraction of the PC market and Apple the majority, then it would have been far more profitable for people to tailor virus' to MAC operating systems.

  It doesn't surprize me. I've either upset an Apple/Mac fan or I've a troll pinging on some of my answers at random.
  .
  The fact remains that people who write virus's and other malware do so to gain attention, cause harm, or for profit. They maximize there efforts at this, which means their predominate platform to attack is the PC/Windows by default. If Apple/Mac occupied that role, then these people would concentrate on them because PC/Windows wouldn't be such an attractive target then.

- What I really don't understand...is that people seem to think that Mac owners have more money than other PC owners (which at least in my case is not true). I would think that if they were trying to profit from their viruses they would go where the money was.

That Apple is virus free or much more virus free than Windows is a myth. It used to be the case but hasn't been for some time.
