  • not very good, unfortunately ... unless you can produce proof in court that your license plate had not expired.
  • Not good, unless you want to hire a lawyer to get them to drop the charges (not likely) or lower the fees. But then you'd have the lawyer fees. Its probably not worth it.
  • At least in my area, as long as you get the vehicle registered before the court date, the charge will be dropped, unless there was some extenuating circumstance such as the plates being expired for a few years or something.
  • As a driver of any vehicle, you are responsible for any activity in or on the vehicle in which you are driving. And, this includes current auto registration.
  • john and jack both have the right answers if it was during daylight hours you could always argue the case that you were on your way to pay it
  • You don't get the ticket your husband does the ticket goes with the owner of the car not the driver.Yes you were driving the car but your not the owner he is so he gets the ticket not you.
  • Actually your chances aren't that bad. When you go to court show the officer that you have paid the taxes on the vehicle and you will probably be fine. If he doesn't drop it then example the situation to the judge and be respectful and you should be fine. Expired registrations are a common phenomenon and are often dismissed.
