According to Christian dogma, He can; however, He deliberately chooses not to.

Since I do not believe in that story, fortunately I don't have a religious answer. But I would say if he is all powerful and does not ease pain and suffering, he has his reasons. Not my idea of an all loving God, but that's how I see it.
-
The only God there is is within you. We are our own God. We create our own reality from the thoughts we entertain, good and bad, positive and negative. It is our collective negative thinking that brings problems and difficulties into our lives and the world around us. We have the ability to do Godly things like help and heal people. But in order to do so, we are in need of a very loud wake up call!
-
I'm not an active or practising Christian so this question will, no doubt, receive better answers from those who are. I believe that the point is that God created a perfect world for us to live in and gave us free will. By exercising our right to use that free will we (and I mean humanity for generation after generation) have consistently abused our right to possess it.
-
I'm going to boil this down a lot, but the reasoning is thus: God created for man a perfect world. This world, Eden, was, if memory serves surrounded by the vast expanses of dessert the Hebrews came to call home. Man sinned, as did Woman, and thusly God removed them from the Garden, and commanded that they live out the rest of their lives in the wastes of Nod (I've been told Nod means wandering in the Hebrew Language, but I cannot read or speak any Hebrew, so take that with a grain of salt unless you know otherwise. Although the term Nod would suggestt hat the ancient Hebrews may very well have been nomadic) where both would toil for the rest of their lives. Basically, he CAN ease our suffering, but we are being punished for the sins of our fathers. So, basically, from a Christian perspective, it's because God is punishing mankind for sin.
-
That's the reason I don't believe in a Christian God.

Have you read The Master Key? Or seen The Secret DVD. Have you heard of The Law Of Attraction, Universal Law? What about The Power Of Positive Thinking? Do you believe Jesus died on the cross? Was Judus his enemy... or his friend?
-
It wasn't six literal days. The bible has a lot of numerology in it, but I think that God is trying patiently to let us get ourselves together. We suffer because we treat each other like you know what. We need to get over ourselves and help each other out.
-
I think God expects us to find the love in our hearts to relieve suffering. Life is a test. Good luck.
-
Beacuse "he's" not real, Either that or "he" sucks.
-
He can't because he doesn't exist. He didn't create everything in 6 days either.

First of all is there really such a thing as a Christian God? Secondly why stop at ‘easing the pain’ why don’t we ask Him to mend the mess we are making of our environment, or indeed solve the many other problems we have created for ourselves by our ‘man knows best, he needs no guidance’ attitude. How many times do we read that the world produces sufficient food to feed every hungry mouth. Yet people die of starvation. We have to sincerely turn to the scriptures and see what we can learn from them. HQ 17:9 says “Lo! this Qur’an guideth unto that which is straightest, and giveth tidings unto the believers who do good works that theirs will be a great reward.” HQ 2:121 says “Those unto whom We have given the Scripture read it with the right reading, they believe in it. And whoso disbelieveth in it, those are they who are the losers. HQ 2:27 goes on to say as for “Those who break God’s covenant after ratifying it and sever that which God ordered to be joined, and (who) make mischief on the earth: Those are they who are the losers”
-
Because the Christan God, nor any other god can... because none of them exist. So far, all these non-existant deties do is inspire their followers to destroy and kill in their name... causing more pain, more chaos!

There are a couple of things to keep in mind about this mortal state. The first thing to keep in mind is that mortality is a training ground. There are lessons that God wants us to learn. Let me reference the parable of the talents (http://scriptures.lds.org/en/matt/25/14-30#13). In the case of the parable itself, the talents are units of money. However, I think the English meaning of the word also fits the parable. Each of us is blessed with talents (skill). God wants us to learn to use these skills for good. (Will we use our talents to help minimize suffering or will we use them in a way that increases suffering?) We can only learn to do this if we have a choice as to how we will use them. In order to eliminate suffering, God would have to take away are ability to choose evil. If he eliminated our ability to choose evil then we would not be able to learn how to tell the difference between good and evil and, thus, we would not be able to learn that which God wants us to know. The second point that people who ask this question fail to keep in mind is that this life is really just a blink of an eye when compared to eternity. The few paltry decades that seem so long while we are in mortality are nothing compared to the eternity that we can spend in the presence of God. I am not trying to minimize things here, but even the worst suffering that someone my experience in this life is nothing compared to the eternal joy that can be ours if we but do that which God has asked of us. So, the reason God does not ease the suffering of people is two fold. He wants to see if we will make the choices that will do that ourselves and He has a much longer view of the situation than we do. He wants us to learn certain lessons that are essential for us to have in eternity, an eternity that can swallow all of the suffering of this life in immeasurable joy in His presence.

The reason for Him allowing the suffering is to me, just as incomprehensible as Him creating reality in 'six' days. To believe in one, you just have to accept that there's a reason for the other I guess.

People aren't willing to do it, but the same people feel free to criticize God. Example from Connecticut: Two career criminals with long rap sheets invaded a doctor's home, killed his wife, raped at least one of his daughters and burned them both to death, and tried to kill him with a baseball bat but he's still alive. Why did society ever let these monsters loose on the street? Why wasn't Connecticut willing to build enough prisons to keep them locked up for life? Why did the DA even express doubts about seeking the death penalty? And why--if they are condemned to death--will there be thousands of bleeding-heart liberals thinking these fiends should stay alive, instead of having them hanged by the neck until dead?
-
We live in a fallen creation because of sin. Sin and its wages, death, are causing this world to have the wrath of God upon it. This world is ending soon, and the only Way out is Jesus(John 14:6). When He returns, all pain and death will end. Those who believe in Him will have everlasting life(John 3:16-17). -In the service of the Master. Thank you and God bless you!

It always surprises me when people equate a loving supreme being with the end of human suffering. Diamonds are created by immense pressure. Steel is forged in fire. Humans are refined and developed through painful trials. Without suffering, we couldn't appreciate, or possibly even recognize, joy. People have free will. Nearly all the suffering man endures is of his own making; God has nothing to do with it. It's not about the power to create a world without suffering; it's the freedom to let people evolve as they choose.

He told us what to do many times but we keep ignoring him. How can he be held responsible? That's all people ever do. They spend all their time ignoring God, taking credit for good things that come their way and then when the shit hits the fan they say, "Why did God let this happen?" "We're so clever because we sell drugs." "We're so clever because we build bombs." "We're so clever because we build tall buildings." "We're so clever because we build intricate toys." "Why doesn't God take away suffering?" What's everyone else doing? If mummy tells you to look both ways before crossing the road and you choose to ignore her, you can't blame her when you get hit by a car. But yes, apart from that I don't know.
-
We let the pain happen, not God. We have the capability to cure the problem; the question should be why do WE let the suffering continue?
-
1. God created a perfect world 2. He created humans to look after it under His authority and guidance 3. humans chose not to accept His authority, and so suffering arose. Whose fault is it? Ours. 4. God sent Jesus to pay for the rebellion of humans. 5. Everyone who asks for God's forgiveness is part of the first phase of abolishing pain and suffering. 6. When the number of those who will accept Him is reached, God will call a halt to all suffering. Who has the solution? God In the meantime, what are we as individuals, doing to ease the suffering of those billions? It is easy to cry out that their suffering must stop, but we need to act. Start with one.

First of all, those were not literal 24 hour days. Here are a few thoughts: “Every good gift and every perfect present is from above, for it comes down from the Father of the celestial lights.” James 1:17 “God “makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous.” (Matt. 5:45) “You are opening your hand and satisfying the desire of every living thing.” (Psalm 145:16) God has done his part. The earth is filled with his bounty. Mankind has developed some economic models that leave out billions of poor people. You may wish to contact your local government to see how they are doing. You seem to totally ignore mankind's role in the suffering of this world which is caused by "mankind's inhumanity to man". Better yet, why not volunteer to work at a food pantry yourself? What are you doing to ease the suffering? Finally, through Christ Jesus His son, God will usher in a kingdom that will replace mankind’s oppressive governments and will never be brought to ruin. As is written in Revelation 21:3,4 :” With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

When He's nice to us, we ignore him, brag about how clever we are, become selfish, treat each other like trash, lose all the nice things He gave us, suffer, curse Him, suffer more, and then eventually we cry out to Him for help. At last! He's finally got our attention!

Twhupfold, the research is robust and undeniable: the death penalty saves innocent lives. If murderers are quickly put to death, there will be 18 fewer murders in the future; if it takes twelve or fifteen years, only three, but there is by now a convincing answer for every single argument the anti-death-penalty crowd has raised. If life in prison were worse than death, for example, those on Death Row wouldn't struggle so hard to stay alive. So just admit that you have no reasons. It's just that you feel in your heart that nobody should be executed. I hope someday that you will see your heart is misguided.

God did indeed give us free will, and from Adam and Eve we have been choosing to do really bad things with it ever since. At the same time we get ourselves into these messes thumbing our nose at The Creator and then blaming Him because we did it and He wont get us out of it in OUR time. If you will notice the Bible told people how to live to avoid many problems, but, WE dont listen to Him. When the Jews listened to the Old Testament on cleanliness they had very low incidences of the black plague. when a third of Europe was wiped out.

I am a christian he will heal people but, only if they believe and pray unceasingly. In the bible it says that all you need is faith the size of a mustard seed. Another thing is he will only he heal you if it is his will. Sometimes there is a reason why he will want people to pass away or go through things to give them a stronger spirit and make them tougher, just like people say what dose not kill us is making us stronger.

You might be looking at this a trifle too literally? ;-)

The creation is God doing what only He could do. As for the easing of “the pain of the few billion people who suffer more daily than many people can even comprehend” well that is within our capability. One could argue it’s our responsibility, some might even say it’s partly of our making in the selfish, self protective ways we manage world trade and world economy, resulting in a very wide gap between the haves and the have-nots. Many poor nations can’t even pay the interest on the money they owe the wealthy nations who see the money owed to them grow year by year. Religions which have a concept of Judgement day say that we’ll be called to questioned for the pain and suffering of our fellow beings. Islamic Sharia (system of governance) does not allow an interest based economy and has a system of wealth tax called the Zakaah whereby everyone whose wealth exceeds a certain threshold pays an annual 2.5% of it to a central treasury from where the wealth is used to improve the lot of those below the poverty line. The long term effect is to reduce the number of those below the poverty line, thus reducing the number of recipients of Zakaah and increase the number of contributors. Unfortunately, as a result of the political and financial sytems controlling the world today, there is no central and proper implementation of Sharia anywhere. However, Muslims still pay Zakaah but the collection and distribution is in inefficient, isolated pockets and is mainly spent in disaster relief. This is mere firefighting and not a building for the future effort.

This answer is from gotquestions.org Great site for christian questions: Why do bad things happen to good people? The biblical answer is there are no “good” people. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that all of us are tainted by and infected with sin (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 6:23; 1 John 1:8). Romans 3:10-18 could not be clearer about the non-existence of “good” people: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. The poison of vipers is on their lips. Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know. There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Every human being on this planet deserves to be thrown into hell at this very moment. Every second we spend alive is only by the grace and mercy of God. Even the most terrible misery we could experience on this planet is merciful compared to what we deserve, eternal hell in the lake of fire. A better question would be “Why does God allow good things to happen to bad people?” Romans 5:8 declares, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Despite the evil, wicked, sinful nature of the people of this world, God still loves us. He loved us enough to die to take the penalty for our sins (Romans 6:23). If we receive Jesus Christ as Savior (John 3:16; Romans 10:9), we will be forgiven and promised an eternal home in heaven (Romans 8:1). What we deserve is hell. What we are given is eternal life in heaven if we come to Christ in faith. Yes, sometimes bad things happen to people who seem undeserving of them. But God allows things to happen for His reasons, whether or not we understand them. Above all, however, we must remember that God is good, just, loving, and merciful. Often things happen to us that we simply cannot understand. However, instead of doubting God's goodness, our reaction should be to trust Him. ”Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
